Week Seven & Eight Recaps

2023 First Year Player Draft Preview

Dylan Crews, Louisiana State University Outfielder, appears to be the ultimate prize of the 2023 MLB First Year Player Draft. Possessing a 70-grade Hit tool, 60-grade Power, and 60-grade Speed, Crews will translate beautifully to the fantasy world and could make a slam-dunk first overall pick in the 2023 HumBabe FYP Draft as well. Other prospects worth consideration: Paul Skenes (LSU RHP), Wyatt Langford (Florida OF), Walker Jenkins (HS OF), and Max Clark (HS OF). Major League Baseball will hold their draft from July 9 to July 11 and HumBabe Dynasty will follow with a July 15th start to their First Year Player Draft. That puts us six Match-Up Periods away from knowing the 2023 FYP Draft Order, but three teams have pulled ahead in the Dylan Crews sweepstakes. The winless Eastside Bombers lead the way to this point, while the Lone Star Drillers and Florida Squeeze could still possibly be the worst HumBabe Dynasty team when July 10th (Draft Order Lock Date) rolls around.

A narrative like this makes you wonder about Anti-Tanking rules that could be considered during the next HumBabe offseason… Should the best team that didn’t make the Playoffs last season get rewarded with the 2023 first overall pick in this FYP Draft? Should the HumBabe Dynasty take a page out of the Premier League and Relegate teams at the bottom of the standings each season? One may wonder…

Baggin Dubs Club

Third Place in the Basket Catch League currently belongs to the 5 – 3 London Bag Club. Wander Franco and Adley Rutschman have led the way to this point, but considering Jazz Chisholm has been on the Injured Reserve and Jordan Walker is down in the Minor Leagues – this Bag Club squad is still on the up-and-up. Joe Ryan and Eduardo Rodriguez has been bright spots on the Pitching Staff but a healthy Jacob deGrom and Carlos Rodon duo could truly turn this team into a 2023 contender.

Week Nine’s Match-Up of the Week features London, fortunate to have two-start weeks from Michael Kopech, Joe Ryan, and Marcus Stroman, squaring off against the best fantasy baseball player in the game today, Ronald Acuna Jr., and the Say Hey Kids.

Stacked Ruth Division

The LeBronto Blue James are either unlucky when it comes to the annual Division Draw, or they’re source of what makes up HumBabe’s toughest Division. Jackal Attack leads the BCL Mays Division with an 8 – 0 record, Pablo leads the BCL Vic Division at 7 – 1, the Splitters are atop the SCL Charlie Division at 8 – 0, and then there’s the SCL Ruth Division… made up of the 5 – 3 LeBronto Blue James, 4 – 4 Brooklyn Robins, 4 – 4 Perth Platypi, and 2 – 6 Lords of Destruction. It is that SCL Ruth Division gang however, that has scored more points than any other Division in the HumBabe Dynasty to this point. Thankfully, our playoff format allows these teams to be rather heedless about how strong their Division is, there’s a clear path to postseason contention for each of the top three teams. But when you remember that the 2023 HumBabe season added a Division Winner Payout for the first time ever, and that Division bragging rights are now financially rewarded as well… these GMs care a great deal as to who comes out on top.
