Week Eighteen & Nineteen Recap

Let Real Games Begin…

With our ten team playoff format, the last Regular Season Period (Week 20) will also act as our Wild-Card Play-In Round. As such, Match-Ups have been shifted around to feature each Wild Card show down. In the Basket Catch League, Golden City Gatekeepers vs Super Smash Stros, and in the Shot Call League, Perth Platypi vs Wally Mash. The lucky winner of each Play-In game will earn themselves a dance with the top dogs, Jackal Attack and the Orlando Splitters. On the top half of the bracket, the number two seeds (Pablo and LeBronto) will take on the top Wild Card’s (Say Hey and Brooklyn) respectively. One calendar week for the Divisional Round, then two calendar weeks for the Semi’s and another two for the Championship. Now or never, for all the 2023 marbles.

Shot Call League Wild Cards

Wally Mash against the Perth Platypi certainly doesn’t feel like a Wild-Card Play-In game. Both own a record just above .500 (10-9), sending them to this sudden death, but Wally ranks 4th Overall in Points Scored and Perth, 7th, both better than than a #2 Seed in Pablo and the Secret Weapons. Wally Mash posted the League’s best point total this past week (535.083 pts) and Perth took down the Orlando Splitters just two weeks ago. Signs of being dangerous playoff contendors for sure, but only one will live to see another round come this Sunday.

Basket Catch League Wild Cards

The Super Smash Stros own the best record of the four Wild Card Play-In teams, 11-8, but in term’s of Total Points Scored they place fourth of four (10th in the League). The Golden City Gatekeepers rank 9th in Total Points for the Season and will get a quick start this week with Allan Winans (ATL) and Javier Assad toeing the rubber on Monday night. Super Stars of this match-up: Matt Olson and Luis Robert Jr. for Golden City, Francisco Lindor and Mitch Keller for Super Smash. Sleepers that are hot coming into the week: Ryan Mountcastle and Ezequiel Tovar (GCG), Jeff McNeil and Logan Allen (Stros). Win, or go home gentlemen.
