With the turn of the New Year, the Hum Babe Dynasty Fantasy Baseball League begins the annual Constitution Coordination … just made that name up … what I mean, is we are going to revisit the League Rules, vote on making any requested changes, and prepare for the 2021 Season. In order to effectively do that, we will start with an overview the current “2021 Pre-Poll League Constitution” as it is, and attempt to identify any specific rules or settings that we feel need to potentially change. Brief Constitution Overview

PAGE 1 – LEAGUE SUMMARY & PERSONNEL

Not much to review on page one, just the addition of our two new League Managers for the 2021 Season, and eventually, maybe a name change for The Thor and His Hammers.

PAGE 2 – ROSTERS & KEEPERS

No proposed changes to the Roster Size Limit, Roster Starting Positions, Keepers Settings, or anything else on page two.

PAGE 3 – POSITION ELIGIBILITY & SCORING

Change Made by the Commissioner – Our standard Position Eligibility settings require that a player must have played a certain number of games at a position during the previous season in order to be eligible for it during the upcoming season. Those standard settings were a fixed number of games, for example, hitters had to play twenty (20) games at a position in order to be eligible. As a result of MLB’s shortened season in 2020, meeting that fixed number of games obviously became more difficult. Therefore, the Commissioner has taken it upon himself to temporary update these settings to reflect the same percentage from the standard twenty (20) games of 162, to a sixty (60) game season – equating to seven (7) games for eligibility. The same was applied to starting pitchers and relief pitcher settings.

PAGE 4 – SCHEDULE, PLAYOFFS & FINANCES

First question – How many teams should make the Playoffs during the 2021 Season? In 2019, we had an eight (8) team format, but due to the shortened 2020 season we added two more for a ten (10) team format. More insight and historical data to come on this decision, and then ultimately a League Poll to vote on.

Second question – What should the League Entry Fee and Payout Structure look like for 2021? We voted to keep the 2019 structure unchanged for the 2020 season – $50 Entry Fee, $450 to the League Champ, $150 for Second Place, $50 for Third Place and $25 to the Monthly Pick-Em Winners. Should we up the stakes this year? More to come on this as well.

PAGE 5 – FAIR PLAY, PARTICIPATION, PROBATION

No proposed changes to the League Rules regarding integrity.

PAGE 6 – LEAGUE OFFICE & SETTINGS

No proposed changes to League Office or the process of changing League Settings.

PAGE 7 – IN-SEASON TEAM MANAGEMENT

No proposed changes to Waiver Wire, Free Agent, Lineup, or Roster Management Settings.

PAGE 8 – TRADES

Question – What should the League Rule for vetoing a trade be? Currently a supermajority (70%+) is required to execute a Veto – that’s only successfully occurred once in League History, and it took a lot of lobbying amongst the managers in order to get every vote cast within the two days time window. Is that too much? Should a veto only require a simple majority (50%+) vote? More to come…

PAGE 9 – OFF-SEASON TEAM MANAGEMENT

No proposed changes to Off-Season Team Management. You may want to brush up on the Annual Free Agent/Rookie Draft rules before we get to the 2021 go-around of it; should take place sometime in March.

PAGE 10 – DIVISIONS

No proposed changes to how Divisions are named, created or assigned. However, there is some new information since the last Constitution as a result of the renamed Divisions.

PAGE 11 – LEAGUE HISTORY

The LeBronto Blue James have officially been added to the Constitution’s list of League Champions … forever written in stone now.

PAGE 12 – LEAGUE STORIES TO REMEMBER

So far we only have one note-worthy league memory – Pablo’s walk off win in the 2019 Semi-Finals. Any suggestions on additional entries we can make?
